Policies and Procedures
Enrollment: A non-refundable fee of RM25 per student is required at time of enrollment together with 1 month’s fee as a deposit, and the fee for the 1st month of lessons.
Payment of Fees: Fees are paid monthly (no part payment is allowed) in advance during the first week of every month. No fees can be refunded for classes missed as the student still retains a place in the class although she is absent.
Fees for November and December are compulsory irrespective of attendance and will be collected during the first week of November. Students who are away for holidays are still required to pay full fees if they with to retain their places.
The school will allow a reduced fee for students going away on holidays for a maximum of 1 month during a calendar year. This is only allowed if the student does not attend any classes during that calendar month. The appropriate airline ticket must be provided.
Payment for dance uniforms are not to be transferred into the school account but to be paid to the branch administration as it involves a different entity.
Termination and Refunds: There is a one-month minimum notice period for termination of all lessons. One-month notice from the first of the month is required to discontinue any classes. Termination must be done with the school office and not with the teacher. Termination must occur within the first week of the month.
The deposit will be forfeited if there is less than 1 months notice of termination.
Public and School Holidays: There are no classes on all Public Holidays unless otherwise informed. The school envisages, to have on average, 4 classes per month throughout the calendar year. If necessary, make up lessons will be arranged for certain holidays. Classes continue through all school vacations set by the Ministry of Education. The Academy observes one week holiday each in May, August and November/December.
If the school must cancel classes due to extreme weather or events beyond our control such as power outages, health quarantines, the missed lessons replaced throughout the year when possible. No refunds for lessons missed due these reasons will be given.
Substitutions: The school reserves the right to provide a substitute teacher if the regularly scheduled teacher is ill or otherwise unable to teach classes. If a teacher is unable to teach the class and the school cannot arrange a substitute, any missed classes will be made up.
Dance Dress Code: Required dancewear and dance shoes must be worn to all classes. Students are not permitted to wear jeans or shoes worn on the street or outdoors, to any dance class. For safety reasons dancers are not permitted to wear jewellery. Long hair must be tied back.
Missed Private Music Lessons and Replacement Lessons: Absolutely no replacement lessons will be given for missed lessons unless 24 hour notice has been given to the school office or there is a serious illness. Replacement lessons will be limited to 1 per teaching term and will require a medical certificate if due to a serious illness. Replacement lessons will depend on the teachers availability. Replacement of replacement classes will not be entertained. No refunds are given for missed lessons. There are no replacement lessons for group music classes or dance classes.
Dance Class Punctuality: Students are required to be punctual for classes. The school reserves the right to have students who come late to class sit out of the class. Repeated lateness may result in termination of lessons.
Dance Class Attendance: Students who have an attendance rate of less than 90% a year may not be allowed to enter the exams.
Parent’s Responsibility to be Aware of Dates and Events: It is the responsibility of the parent or adult student to be aware of all school activities, such as parent’s days, recitals, extra classes, and dates the school is open or closed. The school will post all such notices on the “What’s New” board or the bulletin board as well as providing a notice for the students to take home. In branches where the “Schools App” is use the notice will be posted there too. It is the parent’s responsibility to regularly check with their children for the leaflets and on these boards to ensure they are informed. It is the responsibility of the parents or adult students to inform the school of any change, address change or telephone number change.
Care of Students: The school is not responsible for providing before or after class care for students. Parents with students under the age of 5 are to remain in the school during classes. Students are not to be left at the school for excessive time before or after class.
Injuries: Parents, legal guardians of minor students and adult students waive the right to any legal action for any injury sustained on school property resulting from normal dance activity or any other activity conducted by the students before, during or after class time.
Photo Release: The school is hereby granted permission to take photographs or video of the students to use in brochures, websites, posters, advertisements and other promotional materials the school creates. Permission is also hereby granted for the school to copyright such photographs in its name.
