We offer elite training in ballet, dance, and music, blending heritage with modern studio facilities for a world-class education.
A Legacy of Excellence
Founded in 1967 by Lee Lee Lan (16 September 1944 – 16 May 2022), the Federal Academy of Ballet is a living legacy of excellence in Malaysia. Lee—an internationally acclaimed dancer and choreographer brought distinction to Malaysian dance through a lifetime of leadership: she was the first Asian examiner for Ballet, Modern and Tap appointed by the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) in London, served as vice president of the World Dance Alliance, and sat on the committee of the International Council of Organizations of Folklore Festivals and Folk Arts (CIOFF), a partner of UNESCO. She also founded The Dance Society of Malaysia and the Kuala Lumpur Dance Theatre.
For more than five decades the Academy has carried forward Lee’s commitment to artistry and pedagogy, mentoring generations of dancers and teachers—including Joseph Victor Gonzales, Vicknendran Siva Lingham, David Lee, and Andrew Pan.
