Our Founder

Lee Lee Lan ( née Tan Lee Lan; 16 September 1944 - 16 May 2022 ) was a pioneering Malaysian dancer, choreographer, ballet advocate, and founder of the Federal Academy of Ballet, where she trained many prominent professional dancers and teachers, including Joseph Victor Gonzales, Vicknendran Siva Lingham, David Lee, and Andrew Pan.
A respected leader in Malaysia’s dance community, she was the first Asian appointed as an examiner for Ballet, Modern, and Tap by the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing. She was also an ISTD Fellow in London for Ballet and Modern, ISTD National Organiser for Theatre examinations in Malaysia and founder of The Dance Society of Malaysia. |

Our HistoryWith over 50 years of history, FAB stands as a beacon of excellence in Malaysia’s dance scene. Our dedicated teachers and loyal students have helped establish FAB as one of the nation’s top academies. Many alumni have advanced to prestigious institutions such as the Royal Ballet School, Central School of Ballet, Urdang Academy, and London Studio Centre, with scholarships awarded internationally.
FAB’s bi-annual concerts have launched dancers onto stages across Europe, while our students consistently achieve outstanding results in RAD and ISTD examinations—earning the first honours in Malaysia at Pre-Elementary through Advanced Levels. |
