The Federal Academy of Ballet is among Malaysia’s few ballet institutions to possess its own dedicated performance theatre. Conceived by our founder Lee Lee Lan to give dancers the height, space and professional atmosphere essential for classical and contemporary staging, the academy’s headquarters was expanded to include a bespoke fifth level: The Fonteyn Theatre. Designed by Lee Lee Lan and brought to life by her husband, The Fonteyn—named in honour of Dame Margot Fonteyn—is a refined black-box theatrette on the 5th floor of our Section 14, Petaling Jaya headquarters. .

Dance floor dimensions
Retracted seating: 11.8 × 20.0 m — suitable for up to 35 dancers
Unretracted seating: 11.8 × 10.0 m — suitable for up to 18 dancers.
Audience seating capacity
Retractable seating platforms: 100 seats
Additional side platforms to maximise capacity: approximately 80 seats (plastic chairs)
Notes
When platforms are fully deployed and supplemented with side platforms, total seating can reach 130.

Lighting and sound control room equipped with a 24‑channel dimmer panel and 36 dimmer packs, supporting a versatile rig of Spots, Fresnels, beam and floodlights. Integrated high‑power sound system includes a CD player and auxiliary input for iPad/phone, ensuring seamless playback and clear amplification for rehearsals and performances.
