For the Federal Academy of Ballet, that vision belonged to Lee Lee Lan—a pioneering educator, choreographer, and passionate advocate for dance who believed that the performing arts could enrich lives, shape character, and bring communities together.
When she founded the Federal Academy of Ballet in 1967, ballet was still a relatively unfamiliar art form in Malaysia. Through her dedication, perseverance, and unwavering commitment to excellence, she helped introduce generations of Malaysians to the beauty and discipline of classical ballet while nurturing a vibrant performing arts community that continues to flourish today.

Throughout her career, she inspired thousands of students, many of whom went on to become teachers, performers, choreographers, and leaders within Malaysia's performing arts industry. Her influence extended far beyond the studio, helping shape the country's dance landscape and encouraging a new generation to pursue artistic excellence.

More than Ballet
Although ballet was her lifelong passion, Lee Lee Lan believed that the performing arts should inspire creativity, expression, and connection.
